This is the recording of our October 2021 Irish Network meeting.

The session about Mental Health Awareness and Work focused on more than mental health and wellbeing for the entire workforce. It covered developing greater awareness of mental health conditions. It highlighted supports and job accommodations that can help a person retain their job or return to work while managing their mental health condition.

It examined:

  • Mental health, mental health difficulties and a mental health condition
  • Awareness of common mental health conditions such as depression, schizophrenia and anxiety.
  • Facts and negative opinions about mental health conditions.
  • A range of job accommodations for employees with mental health conditions.

National Learning Network is a learning provider of recovery oriented education, training and employment services inclusive of people with mental health conditions.

Individual Placement and Support is an evidence based model of employment services for people with mental health conditions across Ireland. National Learning Network are delivery partners with the HSE.

Our speakers

Anne Marie McDonnell is Service Development Manager with Rehab Group. She is a qualified Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor with over 20 years’ experience in front line delivery and management of education, training and employment services for people with disabilities and people experiencing educational disadvantage. She also worked as a consultant in the Middle East as a technical advisor on introduction of Inclusive Public Employment Services nationally.

Angela Stewart has over 20 years’ experience working across diverse disability services in both Behavioural Therapy and Psychology roles. She has a wealth of experience in both Inclusive Education and Employment Services and designed, developed, and delivered CPD Programmes for a Public Employment Service in the MENA region focusing on Inclusive Workplace Practices and Job Accommodations. She is currently Project Manager with leading Irish University, working on an Inclusive Learning Project that aims to expand mental health supports to the whole campus.
