Neurodiversity labels – what do we lose or gain? A discussion

Location:

iOH

Presented by Nancy Doyle & Mandy Murphy

Thu 8 January 2026, 10:00 am

Details

A discussion between Professor Nancy Doyle and Occupational Health practitioner and coach, Mandy Murphy.

At a recent leadership conference, Mandy posed the question; –

“Will we ever get to a stage where we can drop the ‘label’, especially for high functioning neurodiversity and where every person will have differences and preferences in the way we work? Knowing how we thrive and what we need to support ourselves is a responsibility for everyone, and it would be good to normalise that. Sometimes labels become a thing to hide behind instead of owning our vulnerabilities. And those without the label could feel left out.”

Nancy gave a great response but would like to delve deeper into the question.

What are your thoughts?
